SERVING THE LEARNING DISABLED COMMUNITY IN THE FOREST OF DEAN
Tuesdays 7pm till 9pm Lydney Community Centre NASA Lane, Lydney
www.thegoldentriangleclub.org.uk
The Golden Triangle Club was formed in 1981, by the owner of a Lydney care home for the learning disabled. He felt that there was a need for his residents to have a fuller social life. This was accomplished in conjunction with the Gloucestershire Councils Local Youth Group. As the years went on due to budget cuts, the club lost the funding of the council and had to become self-sufficient.
In the last few years we have been able to bring more diversity to the club and have increased our membership to over 130 members. We are based at the Lydney Community Center Naas Lane. We have been very happy to find the support of other local clubs and businesses that have allowed us a greater range of activities.
We have been known to have skittle nights at the Lydney Football Club and also at the St. Swithin's Club, Viney Hill; BBQ's & Dance at the Lydney Rugby Club. Games and sports at Bathurst Park and Café; Kel brings her Ice Cream Van to Club. Movie nights at the Palace in Cinderford. Catered Dinners with Discos at Xerox Social Club Mitcheldean and one of our most favorites is twice a year we go out on the Kingfisher Cruise Boats at Symonds Yat.
These activities bring so much joy to our members. For some this is the highlight social activity of the week and for others this is the only activity where they get to meet with their friends. If you know someone who may benefit from our club or if you can spare 2 hours on a Tuesday night (this does not have to be every week) extra hands are always needed.
